The promising momentum of "Breeding Season" came to an abrupt halt in July 2016. The project was officially canceled. The collapse stemmed from a bitter dispute between the development team and their art director, Vladimir Sandler (known as S-Purple). According to the team, Sandler was allowed to retain all rights to the art he produced for the game. This decision led to a chain of events where Sandler allegedly ran off with his art and started a new project called Cloud Meadow , leaving the "Breeding Season" team with a stripped-down, unworkable project. The team claimed that Sandler also walked away with half the studio's savings, and under threat of legal action, he forced them to remove his assets from the game. This effectively killed the project, as it would have required starting over from scratch. The team stated, "There is no way the project could actually survive the process, the game is just dead, that’s the end". The conflict left the remaining team members too demoralized to continue, and the project was dissolved. Sandler, however, claimed his new project, Cloud Meadow , was an attempt to "save what I could of the Breeding Season Project".
